Chapter 1: An Unexpected Answer

"Why am I still alive?" I pondered as I was laying upon the grassy fields surrounded by a forest.

"God, it would be great if you could give me an answer." I said it out loud before I could stop myself.

When no answer came, not like I was hoping for one, I just sat up and decided it was time to get back to my meaningless life.  BOOMcrackle! The sound of thunder made me turn around and I just stood gaping at the direction of the source. A hole opened up in the sky where the thunder had struck and a spacecraft just flew out of it and it was heading towards... ME! I barely moved out of the way when it plummeted onto the ground where I was just sitting. It skid right past me and finally came to a halt, smoke billowing from it like it's inside was on fire. The hole in the sky disappeared right after.

Normally, people would run away from burning UFOs that could explode or worse, contain aliens that could eat you alive, but for some crazy reason, I did the total opposite. Yes, I was practically running to my death but it didn't feel like I was running to it, it was more like something was pulling me in.

PssstKhaa... What was that sound? As I neared the spacecraft, I realized that it was smaller than I imagined. It was round like an eyeball and a bit taller than a telephone booth. My eyes were starting to water from the smoke. Although my vision was starting to get blurry, I could still make out an iris-shaped door that was apparently opened. The sound from before must have came from it. As I looked inside, I couldn't see anything but smoke.

"Is anyone...Ah!" before I could finish, something from behind grabbed my arm and yanked me away from the cloud of  smoke and the mysterious eyeball ship.
