Chapter 2: The Encounter

" Let me go!" A hand covered my mouth right after I exclaimed. "Shhh! If you don't want to die, you better be quiet!" whispered my captor. I was relieved for a moment that the thing that caught me was a he and not an it, but his threat made me even more scared especially with the word 'die' in it.

"Jason! Are you okay?" The voice came from a woman in strange clothing who was running towards us as we stepped out of the billowing black smoke.  A voice right behind me answered:" I'm fine. I found this girl wandering around the ship. Good thing I saw her or she would have been dragged off by the Breizks." I didn't understand a thing he was saying and I didn't care. All I cared about was getting away. "Jason, you should let go of the girl first. She looks scared." the woman said with a kind voice which was ruined by a harsh threat towards me from my captor "Hey, girl, you better not make any noise, or else." I shook my head furiously. The moment he let go of me, I sprinted off to the nearest tree, into the surrounding forest. "Damn! She's going to get herself killed." But it was too late, I was already out of their reach.

I wish I hadn't run into the forest. I wish I had listened to the endless shouts, calling me to stop. But I didn't. I just ran, deeper and deeper into the woods. At that time, all I wanted was to get as far away from that place as possible. After a while, my adrenaline started to wear off and eventually I stopped to catch my breath, By then, the voices of my pursuers were nothing but a whisper. I had not the time to think when I was running away. But now that I was far from danger, I was aware of the thoughts forming in my head. What have I gotten myself into? Who were those two? Was that spaceship theirs? Where am I? How am I going to get home?

Snap! Something broke my train of thought. I straightened up, looking around to see if someone or something was there, half expecting the man from before to jump out. I thought I heard something. My senses were in high alert and my instinct was telling me to get the hell out of there. I was ready to run when a searing pain shot through my entire body like lightning. My whole body froze up, my teeth clenched together really tight and my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. Something warm was dripping down my body. I tried to run but to no avail. It felt like my life was being sucked out of my body and I was stepping on the threshold of Heaven's gate. The last thing I could remember was a voice calling my name. "Jane!!"
